NBA officials apparently aren’t fans of the air guitar — or at least not Lance Stephenson’s rendition.
That’s what the Los Angeles Lakers guard found out after dropping a 3-pointer at the 3:18 mark of the third quarter against the Charlotte Hornets on Saturday night.
After putting the Lakers ahead by 32, Stephenson began strumming the imaginary ax toward Hornets forward Miles Bridges, drawing a technical foul for taunting.
“I guess the refs don’t like my little air guitar celebration,” Stephenson said after finishing with 11 points, five rebounds, four assists and two steals in 23 minutes in the Lakers’ 128-100 victory.
Despite the penalty — his second technical foul of the season — Stephenson sounded as if he will be perfectly willing to show off his air guitar skills again in the future.
“Oh, of course,” Stephenson said. “Especially if I’m feelin’ it.”
Stephenson said he and Bridges share agent Rich Paul of Klutch Sports and worked out together in the summer.
“Miles challenged me, so I just showed him, like, man, I’m confident,” Stephenson said. “Just a little fun.”
